About

Hello and welcome! Thank you for visiting my blog. I write about a wide variety of topics ranging from religion and spirituality, to social media and family life, all from the perspective of a Mexican-American-Lutheran pastor.

My name is Ron Valadez and I am a husband, a father of three amazing daughters, and a graduate of Shippensburg University and Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (now United Lutheran Seminary). I grew up in the northern California "small town" of Vacaville and lived there my first twenty years until I married and moved to southcentral Pennsylvania where we remained for eighteen years, except for my third year of seminary, while at my internship site in Birmingham, AL, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. I am currently serving as pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Auburn, CA.

My interests include: writing, XBOX, social justice, inter-faith dialogue, cigars, softball, sci-fi/fantasy/nerd culture, craft beer, Latino American roots, theology, community, love, racquetball, bike riding, etc.

Since becoming a pastor most of my writing is in the form of sermons but I do find time to write other stuff too, here and elsewhere. I was a contributing author for the book Love Has No Borders - How Faith Leaders Resisted Alabama's Harsh Immigration Law. I have been a regular contributor for Augsburg Fortress's Sundays & Seasons Preaching commentaries, as well as their 2019 Lenten devotional.

If this sounds like a blog for you then please subscribe! I look forward to our journey together in this crazy thing we call faith.
